Privacy policy

FreeTranscribe converts recordings you submit into text. This policy explains what information we handle, why we handle it, and how you can control it.

Information we collect

We collect your email address, recordings and optional transcription context you submit, the resulting transcripts, and job details such as file size, duration, status, and error logs. If you subscribe, Stripe provides us with payment and subscription identifiers, status, and limited billing details. We do not receive or store your complete card number.

Our website and service may also receive ordinary technical information such as IP address, browser type, request time, and security logs. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate you, receive and process recordings, deliver and delete transcripts, operate subscriptions, prevent abuse, investigate failures, provide support, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell customer information or use customer recordings and transcripts to train models.

Processing and service providers

Recordings are processed on private, operator-controlled computing infrastructure using an open-source transcription model. We use Cloudflare for website and network services, Stripe for billing, and SMTP2GO for transactional email. Each provider handles information needed for its role under its own contractual and security commitments.

Retention and deletion

Uploaded recordings and transcript results are deleted no later than 7 days after processing completes. You can permanently delete a job sooner from your private workspace. We may retain account, subscription, support, security, and financial records longer when reasonably needed to operate the service, prevent fraud, or meet legal and accounting obligations.

Security and your choices

We use private job access, expiring sign-in links, encrypted transport, and bounded retention. No online service can guarantee absolute security. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by emailing support@freetranscribe.org. Some records may be retained where the law requires it.
